About Me

DSC_0562 - CopyWelcome to the flight of fancy! The inspiration for this blog has come from my son, Asad. If I can overcome my tendency to procrastinate, I sometimes like to give words to my thoughts and the purpose of the blog is to share thoughts, ideas, ranting and ravings.

I was born in Abbottabad, Pakistan. My father left the Army as a captain and then spent many years as the Messing Officer in the PMA, Kakul. My mother served as Principal in various government schools and later as District Education Officer in various districts in the NWFP. I studied at Burn Hall School Abbottabad from primary to the higher secondary level. After my FSc I obtained admission in Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad where I spent about two years before opting to join the teaching profession in 1987. I have pursued a career in Education with great devotion since then.

After obtaining a higher secondary certificate in education, I studied privately and on the job and obtained a B A from Peshawar University and later an M A English Literature degree from Punjab University. I also hold a CPE from the Cambridge University, UK. I was selected for the Charles Wallace Fellowship award in 2007 and remained associated with the ‘Centre for the Study of Education in an International Context’ at Bath University, UK. I also spent time in Oxford and Wales in connection with the requirements of the fellowship. I also have a post graduate diploma in Educational Planning and Management.

As a member of the pioneer teaching staff of Chand Bagh School Lahore, I played a role in planning and establishing the school. For the last ten years I have served as Principal, Winnington School ICI Khewra. This is a day-school run under the auspices of ICI Pakistan Limited and caters to the educational needs of boys and girls of ages 3+ to SSC level.

Interests include reading, music, travel etc.
